Tied Up Fishing Boats In Gloucester 1933
Fishing boats are tied up in Gloucester, Mass. on April 18, 1933, waiting to hear back about the mission to Washington, D.C., by the schooner Gertrude L. Thebaud. Veteran fishing skippers manned the schooner, which sailed for Washington, where the members as delegates to the fishing industry asked federal aid of Congress and of President Roosevelt. This was the first time a delegation from Gloucester went to the halls of Congress in a fishing craft to plead for the fishing interest.
