Overall Of Crowd At Pres. Lyndon B. Johnson Speech 1964
Thousands pack Post Office Square in Boston to listen to President Lyndon B. Johnson speak on Oct. 27, 1964, 11 months after John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Johnson said of his predecessor, "He led an entire nation, and found his way to the secret hopes of man. But he was Irish, and he was Massachusetts born, and he was Boston-bred. He belongs to the world. But a part of him belongs especially to you. And you are richer for it."
